Expectations on and after a date?

I had a date with a guy from church. He has some great qualities and I wouldn't mind a second date. I thought we hit it off, but it can seem that way to me sometimes and then nothing happens with that person. My church is little old fashioned, so I couldn't ask him out for a second date or to hang out for a while after this date but he could ask me for a second date any time. How do I not hope for a second date when there is a chance he will never ask me for a second date? I should tell you that people do not go out on dates too often in my church, compared to some others my age (25). By that I mean sometimes people won't go on more than one or two dates a year. The prettier girls at church may go on like 5-10 dates a year, if you are lucky( I go on about 10/yr)- I wish I was exaggerating but I am not. People do get married in my church somehow despite these odds. I think some of the men at church are chronic bachelors. How can I not hope for a second date or a phone call or something?
