Date of conception: how accurate is it?

ok so i've been for two scans so far. one at almost 7 weeks, the other at 12. both of these gave the same date of conception based on the measurements of the baby.

the date given is accurate to my ex being the father.

however, six days after this date, i slept with a friend (i originally thought it was this friend who was the father).

so, i've asked as many people as i can how accurate these scans are and i hear the early ones are more accurate than the later ones (thank god i had some bleeding) but that they're all VERY accurate. it's really annoying me though because on the one hand they say the scans are so accurate in calculating the date then i ask them whether that means it's def my ex who's the father they all just suggest i do a paternity test grr.

so, have any of you ever asked how accurate the scan dates are and if so, what answers have you been given?

also, seeing as i've been given answers ranging from 'to the hour' to within 3-4 days, do you think it's fair that i

Date of conception: how accurate is it?
The earlier scans are very accurate. Also when u consider that sperm can live inside you for upto 5 days but the egg for only 2 it makes sense that your ex would be the father as his sperm would be waiting for the egg. I would assume that your ex is the father and I think you will be right but I'm glad your getting the paternity test just to make sure. You don't want to end up on Jeremy Kyle in 15 years!

Best of luck, I hope you get the answer you want.
Reply:It can be off by 7 days, either way, through ultrasound and even going by your LMP.

If you had sex with both of them within the same cycle, either could be the father. You will need a DNA test when the baby is born to find out.
Reply:first of all, it depends on how regular you're period was. in your case i'd wait till you have the baby, and do a paternity test. good luck, and i hope it turns out for the best for you.
Reply:They can be wrong! It largely depends on when you ovulate. The only way you'll really know is to do the paternity test.
Reply:Just remember the earlier the sonagram the more accurate the date!
Reply:it is most of the time very accurate but as it was so close together tha you slept with them both it could be either of them, i would say its probably your ex but then i dont know the date the baby was conceived or any of the other factors, def have a paternity test as this is going to sound horrible but what if something was to hapen to the baby and it needed something from its dad, this way you know full stop whos it is. try not too worry, a baby is a blessing and putting yourself under stress from this worry is doing no good to you or your baby! good luck.. hope it all turns out okay! xxx
