I know this will sound silly... but I have to ask! does anyone know if it is possible for your due date to be off by 6 - 8 weeks? Heres my situation.... I had no boyfriend, but I had a friend who I have dated off and on for YEARS, we had sex in the middle of October, right after my period ended. It was unprotected, but I was on the pill. I met my current boyfriend shortly after, and ended seeing my friend and became comitted to my boyfriend. I spotted very lightly in november, and in December missed my period all together. HOWEVER, a week and half late, I had what I feel WAS a period, it was very short, 3 days, but heavy. My boyfriend and I never had sex with out a condom, and I have consistently been on the pill. January I found out I was pregnant. I didnt explain all this to them and gave them the date of my LMP as December 13th. They have used this date to come up with my due date, but something has me feeling really scared! Is it possible that I could be 2 mos off? Help!
Due Date Question?
Usually your "due date" means your due week. A VERY small percentage of babies are actually born on their due date. It is quite possible to get pregnant with a condom. My 14-year-old brother is proof. My 24-year-old cousin is proof of getting pregnant on the pill.
I had a normal period in November. I had a very light period in December. The doctor I first went to, said that I didn't concieve until after my Dec. period. (Which was Dec. 13th as well. Which makes your due date the week of Sept 20th.) Yet, morning sickness doesn't start until 2-8 weeks after conception. I started to get sick two days after Christmas, which is exactly two weeks after my last "period." Turns out that I am about a month further than my first doctor said.
If you are pregnant with the current boyfriend's child, you will be feeling some movement. Fluttering that might feel like gas bubbles or butterflies. Most babies are rocked to sleep by your walking movements, so feeling movement in the middle of the day might not work. After you eat dinner or right before you go to bed are times that you are relaxed and might be able to feel movement.
It is possible that you could be, but you would be feeling all kinds of movement if you were. You might be a few weeks further, but probably not 6-8 weeks.
I would suggest that you go buy "What to expect when you are Expecting." You can find it in the book department at Walmart. It is an amazing book that goes into incredible detail. It has month to month guides that you can use to monitor your pregnancy. I don't know what I would do without mine. I refer to it almost daily.
Congrats. And Good luck!
Reply:First question is...Have you had an ultrasound?? An early ultrasound is the best way to determine the fetal age. You can pretty much get an exact estimate on the age of the fetus as long as it's in the first trimester, after that it's more difficult to get an accurage age. If you have one they can tell you your due date from that. That's going to be the best way to find out!!
Reply:The only way to know is by ultra-sound. They can tell from the size of the fetus. I'm 6 1/2 months pregnant now with my 2nd son, but miscarried in Nov at 11 weeks, the fetus never showed over 6 weeks. Ask when your first ultra sound will be. My ultra sound this time around, was right on, down to the date of conception. Hope everything works out they way you want.
Reply:They will do a ultrasound to determine if you baby is bigger then that or if what. It is possible but if you got pregnant in October and and spotted in November then you would roughly be due in July and you would be feeling the lil one move alot. Plus your dr would of caught it by now.
Reply:If it is only being based on the date of your last period it could be off. Some women have period like bleeding in early pregnancy. When your Dr does an ultrasound it will give them a more accurate due date. You should really explain all of this to your Dr so they can do an ultrasound sooner than later. It is very important to have an accurate due date for a variety of reasons.
Reply:Your Dr will know if you are 8 months pregnant or 5 months pregnant by the size of the baby and by a physical exam. You could ask your Dr if you are not sure - you don't have to tell him/her why you just have to ask if they can tell you. A sonogram will also tell and you should have had one or be ready to have one at any time now.
But, to answer your question, I highly doubt you are that much further along.
Reply:I would go back to the doctor have have an ultrasound. They can measure the baby and give you a more accurate due date. Most likely it is your current boyfriends baby but you should check just in case.
