Was this a date?

i met this girl at the dc we talked for about an hour. after that i got her on facebook. i then felt like asking her out on a date i dont know if is screwed up by not using the word date did i have to use the word date? i specifically asked her if she would like to get together and do something like ice skating and get something to eat this weekend. when we went out she was very touchy and bumped up against me. so i thought we had a romantic connection. but i was not touchy back because i was not yet that comfortable. i never used the word date. later another time we went to the movies together she was less touchy then. then i just asked her out again and i used the word date and she was shocked and said she thought we were just friends. i said we are friends but would you like to go out on a date to see if their is more. Did she already make up her mind about how she sees me? would this have been different if i used the word date and if i was more touchy on the first date?

NO SHE PROBABLY THOUGHT THE FIRST TIME WAS A DATE AND WHEN YOU REJECTED HER SHE FIGURED IT WAS A FRIEND THING GIVE HER TIME SHE OBVIOUSLY LIKED YOU GO OUT AGAIN AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS
