Ultrasound due date vs. LMP due date?

At today's doctor's appointment today I was told that my due date had changed. My LMP due date is on 7/22/07 but I was told that the sonogram's due date is on 7/4/2007. The doctor said that instead of me being 22 weeks pregnant, I am 25 weeks pregnant. Can someone try to explain this to me? And also can someone try to help me understand when you know what month you are in? If I am 25 weeks pregnant would that make me 6 months pregnant or 5 months pregnant? I am not that big to be 6 months. Do I go by the sonogram due date or the LMP due date? Also, why do the doctor's change the due date based on the sonogram? Does that mean that the baby is developing quickly? I am sorry about all the questions. I am so confused and trying to find some level of understanding.

I would go by your LMP. Are you sure of when your last period was? If so then like i said go by it.
Reply:Always go by your sonogram. Your LMP is just what they go by until your baby is large enough to take an ultra sound and determine the babys sex. Your sonogram will read how large your baby is, which will then change your due date. 25 wks is approx. 6 months. You might not look it... but you are.

CAUSE IM IN THE SAME POSITION, AND BY MY LMP (10/14/2006) THEY TOLD MY I WAS DUE ON JULY 23, 2006 AND THEY ARE SAYING JULY 22, AND THEN JULY 21, SO I REALLY DONT KNOW EITHER...THE ULTRASOUND IS SAYING IM DUE ON JULY 21, 2006..AND RIGHT NOW IM 22WKS AND 4 DAYS...ITS WEIRD CAUSE I HAVE INTERCOURSE ON NOVEMBER 4, 2006 SO THEY COUNTED FROM MY LAST PERIOD, AND NOW MY BABYDADDY IS SAYING ITS NOT HIS...BUT JUST GO WITH THE ULTRASOUND.. CAUSE I AM...
Reply:These are probably just approximate dates. If you're 25 weeks pregnant then you're approximately 6 months. When my mom was pregnant with me, she didn't start to show until almost the 7th month so it probably depends on the person. I also know of a few people who barely showed at all.
Reply:go by the ultrasound, its more accurate. they measure the femur the skull and the chest to get a date. your baby is that size and age,it does not gain weight till the end so it can not be more developed.
Reply:If you are 25 weeks you are 6 months and 1 week pregnant. As to how "big" you look, some woman never look very "big", their bodies hold the weight better and it is less noticable until the last month or so. My mother was this way.


As for the due date, I would go by the sonogram, simply because the doctor can get a good look at how developed your child is and make an edcuated guess, because that is all a due date is, is an educated guess. Your child may not be "developing quickly," it may just be that your LMP due date was off, based on when you thought you might have concieved.\I am sure that you are your child will be fine. Enjoy the wonder of being pregnant and try not to worry too much about the exact day your family will begin, hopefully the child will be born healthy and whole and than it doesn't really matter what day they show up :)
