Hi, I'm just starting my application for 2008 entry and I've come across a little problem. There's a section titled "Date of first entry to live in UK," and it requires you to fill this information out if you weren't born in the UK. The problem is, I don't know when I'm going to enter but they tell you to write the exact date, month and year of entry. What's more, they don't even have the year 2008 listed. Here's what it says:
Date of first entry to the UK (if not born in UK)
If you were born outside the UK please give the date when you entered, or propose to enter, the UK. If you have already moved to the UK, the date should be found in your passport or other papers used to gain admission to the UK. Select the appropriate day, month and year from the drop down boxes.
UCAS Date of first entry to live in UK?
This question was not present on the form when my son went to study in the UK (we live outside the UK) a couple of years back. Looks like a new discriminatory measure.
Can't you write in "2008"? Or is this an online form with drop-down menu?
If so, I suggest you enter "2007". After all, it is a "date you propose to enter". There is nothing to stop this entry being late (like a train). "Propose to enter" is not legally binding. You can propose to enter in September 2007, but only arrive in 2008.
Reply:As it says, look on your passport for the visa stamp, or immigration control stamp. Or, look on the papers which granted you leave to remain in the UK. If you are here illegally, you cannot do this.
