When I first went to the doctor's office to confirm pregnancy I was not certain when my last period was. With the guess that my husband and I gave the due date was July 23rd. I went back in a few weeks later and my doctor gave me an ultrasound to get a more accurate date. That due date was July 13th. I have had another Ultrasound since then and that due date was July 17. He said that with the old due date of July 13th the 17th was close enough to not change anything. Since then though I've discovered that my medical file still says July 23rd. I will be seeing my doctor in a little over a week and plan to discuss this with him. When I was informed of it, I was with a student of nursing who was to graduate within 2 weeks to be a Nurse Practitioner. Beings she was just there for the day I figured I wouldn't get any answers reguarding that.
Has anyone else had this happen? I know all the dates are within 10 days of each other but I'd still like to know when they figure I'm "due".
Due Date wrong?
my first due date is may 25..but when they did my ultrasound to get a better look it was 2 weeks further than what they thought..and everytime i went back for more it was the same story..so they just told me to expect anywhere from may 11-25..and then they said yesterday it could be any day now..so really its all on the baby ..but just say your due between july13-23..good luck and congrats..
Reply:Well as only 15% of all babies are born on the due date it´s very hard to say exactly when you will be due, and without the correct date of your last period you will probably never know.
I made the same mistake, I told my doctor my last period was on the 19th of September 2006. At 32 weeks I went for an ultrasound and the doctor said my baby is 2,3 kg. This bothered me because it was too big for a 32 week old fetus. Luckily my sister remembered that I got my period the day before my wedding in August last year so my next period was the 8th of September 2006 and not the 19th. Went to doctor again told him about the dates he did another ultrasound and all the measuring confirmed that I was in fact 34 weeks and 3 days!!!!

Reply:I have heard of this happening to other women and your best bet is to talk to the doctor and explain what happened and that you would like clarification on your due date. However, as your doctor stated it isn't enough of a difference to change it - usually if it's a week or more then they'll change it so it looks like he's keeping it the 23rd. Nothing to be concerned about, just one of those things. Hopefully baby comes on time for you - with my second my due date was changed from 6/4 to 6/11 and wasn't born until the 21st! Best of luck and don't sweat it and enjoy!
Reply:Not really, sorry. But the thing that you have to worry now is - is your baby okay? Is there something wrong with him/her?
Reply:babies grow at different rates, so they can only get a close guestimate. my mother has her own way of predicting due dates and was dead on with two of my kids, missed within 1 day on my daughter and with the last child i was induced 5 %26amp;1/2 weeks early so we'll never know if she was right with him. but you need to know when your LMP was. then count backwards by three months and add 10 days. with my daughter (the one she missed by 1 day) my due date went from the 23 of october to the 29th, then to the 8th. my mom said the 16th, and she was born on the 17th. just get the average of the dates and call it a day. when i figure the average of all your dates i come up with the 18th (actually the 17.66th day of july...LOL).
Reply:Most doctors go with the orignal due date unless the u/s date intidate a date more than 2 weeks difference.
but if you have questions just ask the dr. at your next visit
