Can I date her best friend?

I asked this girl on a date a while ago. We went on that date, like, two week ago. But a couple days before the date, she asked me to come hang out with her and some of her friends at the pool. When I saw who one of her friends were, I was surprised to see that I knew her from my English class. This girl in my English class is REALLY pretty. Through that day, I got to know this English-class-girl better and I would like to ask her on a date. After the date with the first girl was over (and it was, in my opinion, just a friendly date), she said to text her sometime to hang out. The big problem here though is that I don't know English-class girl's phone number or last name. Would it be okay to text the first girl and ask English-class-girl's last name or phone number? Or should I try to fins it out another way?
