If not date your friend, who else would you date?

This idea is confusing for me.

People say don't date your friend, but who else would you date?

As if you are going to start dating someone complete random and not know anything about.

You don't even talk to them, how can you date them?

If not date your friend, who else would you date?
this may sound confusing, but i don't think you should date someone you CANNOT be friends with. However, that does not mean you should try to force romance into a friendship where it does not exist.
Reply:dating friends are too risky and awkward for me.what if bof of you had a misunderstanding?won't the friendship spoil?and how do you date someone called a friend?i'd rather date strangers.
Reply:Why not?

Thats what dating is all about- to get out of your comfort zone and reach out for people beyond your own social circle. I know its stupid to date complete strangers but sometimes they may understand you better than your own friends.
Reply:Great point. I agree. Before you can date someone one party must get to know the other. Have some serious converesations then when the time and the passion is right///go to the next step....dating!
Reply:This is a good question. You should date someone you are sexually attracted to; they should be someone you can relate with in a positive way. The only way to get to know people is by talking to them, getting to know them. The only thing you know from a complete stranger is whether they are sexually attractive. However, many times you will be someone's friend, that is, like them socially as a human being, but not be sexually interested in them. You should not date people you are not sexually interested in. It never works out; because the thing a lover wants most from their partner is to feel wanted, to feel desired, to be affirmed, and you can never give that to them because the feeling was never there. Friends are friends and lovers are lovers...period.
