Friends to dating, first date soon, any advice?

I am going to be dating a girl who's had a crush on me for 2 years. I just got out of a 2.5 year relationship 7 weeks ago, but I feel am ready to start dating again, just not for a relationship quite yet. I told her this and she said that was fine, she wants to take it slow since we're both going to the same college in 7 weeks, so we both want to see friends and stuff. We got a date in a week from now. i'm nervous, because this is the first time i'm seeing her when she knows i like her. i told her on the phone a week ago, and shes in NJ visiting family. I'm scared it's gonna be odd since we've been friends for 2 years, and now feelings are mutual. Any advice on how to keep things at a slow pace for awhile and make a good transition from friends to dating?

I think you are over thinking it, when in reality, you don't have any facts to think on. She likes you, you like her, you know each other for two years and haven't gotten sick of each other. What is there to worry about. How different is it going to get, OK you will get physical, but does that really change things that much?





I'd say that if you are going to let this "Spooked" thing get the best of you before you get started, you will make a mess of it, so just relax and see how it goes. But if you want to start on the right track, maybe this is a topic of conversation to have with her, and see how she feels, as all the best relationships are built on communication and openness.

Reply:If you are already friends then just act that way and have fun as friends and take it slow - don't pressure yourself to be "romantic" or to preform - be yourself and just slow down the pace. Let things happen organically.





BTW - it can and does work - i dated a really great friend of mine that I'd known for several years and we've been married 4 years now and together for 7.
Reply:trust the best relationships are with the ones that are based upon a good relationship just dont spend oto much time contemplating about what might happen just enjoy yourself as if you were just hanging out with her.
