My due date is set to be 2/21/07, by ultrasound and my lmp, which was 5/18/06. I know I had irregular cycles..about 32 or 33 days. Is it common that an ultrasound date could be off by 4 or 5 days? Could I have a later due date? I had ultrasounds done at 11 weeks..i believe it said a due date of feb. 23, then again at 26 weeks, with a date of feb. 21, then the last at 30 weeks and 3 days, with another date of feb. 21. I would also like to know a conception date, because I believe it was somewhere around my birthday, June 6th.
Due date and conception?
Ultrasounds go by the size of the baby. So if the baby is bigger or smaller than what they calculated, they will change the due date to reflect the differences. It is really hard to get an exact conception date, because every woman's cycle is different and most woman don't know the EXACT day they ovulated. Basically sometime during the week of February 21, you should have a baby. But remember some babies come early and some come late, regardless of when they're due. More than likely you did conceive somewhere around your birthday, maybe a few days or a week before that. Good Luck!
Reply:ULTRA SOUNDS GO BY THE SIZE OF THE BABY
Reply:The due date is not an exact science. I was told Sept 18 or 23 for mine and I gave birth Sept 13th.
It could very well be June 6th but keep in mind that his soldiers can live in the body up to 4 days, but that is still close to your Birthday.
Reply:Ultra sounds determine due dates by the size of the baby. So if your baby is bigger than the average baby it says you are due earlier. If it is smaller it says that you are due later. Doctors use the date of your last period. My doctor told me that the only time they use the ultra sound date is when it is 7 days (more or less) different than what they originally thought.
I would go with whatever date your doctor told you are due, but keep in mind only 5% of babies come on their due dates. Mine was due on Monday and I am still waiting for him to come.
Reply:Unless you were charting your fertility signs, it's very hard to tell. Conception depends on when you ovulated. If you have irregular cycles, it's especially hard to tell when you might have ovulated.
For example, I often have long cycles. It's not uncommon for me to ovulate around day 18-38. If I were to conceive, knowing nothing about my fertility signs, a doc would likely calculate based on my LMP. HOwever, s/he'd be off by 4-14 days! That could make a BIG difference when it comes to docs wanting to push induction for being "overdue."
At this point, all calculations would be speculation.

Reply:Wednesday May 31st if you are really due on Feb 21st and ya its just an estimation your baby could come at anytime.
Good luck and congrats.
Just go in and put you due date in the backwards calculator.
Reply:It's all a guess/estimate anyway. It's not that big a deal.
Reply:Ultrasounds are very sensitive and are more accurate for predicting the actual gestational age of the baby. My original due date was July 28th. I had an early ultrasound (nine weeks) and my due date changed to August 14th. I would trust the due date based on your ultrasound, especially since you had irregular periods.
As far as when you conceived, this website is great. Based on their calculation your date of conception was May 31st.
Hope that helps. Take care and congrats.
