Wrong Due Date?

Did your doctor ever give you the wrong due date. I went to the doctor's Friday for an ultrasound, I'm pregnant with twins, and they said that my due date is too soon. So I found out that my new due date is February 14, 2008!! My original due date was January 24, 2008. Did this ever happen to you and what was your due dates. BTW, this is my second pregnancy, and it is twins again.

I don't understand how they can do that. Surely at your 12 week scan your babies were measured and their gestation calculated?


At that stage the measurements would be far more accurate.





Babies vary enormously in size as they grow. Effectively they are telling you that they got your 12 week dating scan wrong.





I wouldn't pay any attention to your new date. Your babies will come when they are ready. Nevertheless, it must be so frustrating for you to be told you have to wait those extra weeks to meet them.

Reply:Yes, this happened to me. At my ultrasound, the baby was small and they moved my due date from June 14 to June 25. At my sonogram, the due date showed June 15 but they just left me with the date of the 25th. My sweet little boy arrived on June 11. So, he was my first one and was right on time!





(My second one was due June 17 and he arrived on June 25!)
Reply:ok this never happen to me but it did with my mom a couple of months ago. Her due date was May 29 but the doctor said wait for another week because the baby waasn't ready to come out. Well on that day (a week later June 4)the doctor wanted to wait longer but my mom didin't. She couldn't take anymore because her stomach was huge and she felt like something was wrong. the next day the doctors tried everything but it didn't work so they give her c section for emergency. I think they gave her c section because one the baby was big, he weighed about 10 lbs and 21in. I hope this helps . Aslo this was her 5th preguency .
Reply:Bless you for having two sets of twins, you poor thing!!! And the due date is not an exact thing, if you were unsure of the date of your last period then the date would fluctuate depending on the growth of the babies. The doctors would use the babies' development to tell them how for along you really are. Also with twins the due date would be different than with single births. It would normally be sooner not later but if they looked at the ultrasound and told you February then that is going to be pretty accurate because they go by the size, weight and development of the babies. Reply:twins again! Wow too many at once for me but congrats! Yes often I have had more than 1 due date one time I had 3! I am pregnant with my 3rd and last:) I am 14 weeks.
